Today’s travels took us to Keswick so we could venture over to Derwentwater. There are some lovely footpaths along the edge of this lake, and of course…water. For those of you who weren’t sure, I would like to confirm that the Lake District is indeed…filled with Lakes. So we have come to see if this is different from any of the ones we have come across so far. And would you believe, it is!

As I write this I am 33 years old. We have made it to the Lake District, to the small town of…Cockermouth. I have not done this on purpose. I should not find this as funny as I do. I chuckle to myself. Isla is bemused.

I can hear my mums voice in my head. Words of encouragement. ‘Get bloody on with it’. (That was the height of encouraging in my family).

We arrived at the campsite at 8.30pm. Family camping trips from the age of 7 have prepared me well for this solo adventure. I would be able to put up my tent quickly and efficiently, before the sun went down.
