Shall I move to Scotland?

I can hear my mums voice in my head. Words of encouragement. ‘Get bloody on with it’. (That was the height of encouraging in my family).

I take a deep breath.

Three. Two. One.

I did it.

After 4 attempts, I have finally propelled myself off the half deflated air mattress. Isla is relieved…as am I.

We have headed east in our Scotland adventure and have made it as far as Alyth. Coincidently, we have found ourselves by the River Isla. For this reason alone, I decide we should move here. Isla needs more information.

It turns out, Perthshire calls itself the dog friendly capitol of Scotland. A bold claim, but I will investigate. This week, I actually find myself on a friend’s family land. Searching for a campsite therefore, is not necessary. But I can’t leave you intrepid readers hanging, so I explore as if I were indeed, in need of some dog friendly space. And wouldn’t you know. These spaces are everywhere. If you want some quality time for you and your pup in a safe space with scenic views, you can pop to somewhere like Comrie Dog Park. You book in a slot, and you have enclosed space that they can run around in off lead. Just what they need, if like mine, they have been restricted to lead walks for fear they might try and snack on a sheep. The area itself is full of dog walks, rails, rivers to plunge into and shops that welcome your furry pal into.

The scenery in this area is outstanding. The Reekie Linn Waterfall in particular is a must stop. It is easy to get to, with car parking spaces galore, and the views are wonderful. There is plenty of space to stop and have your lunch here too.

It was also noted by some of the other dogs we met here, that Isla had in fact found the best stick in the place.

She left it on the bank should anyone else wish to play with it.

Alyth Den is another stop I would highly recommend. Plenty of running around space, streams, but most importantly…no sheep. I cannot stress this sheep thing enough. This is the first time we have encountered deer on our travels. They are bold in this part of the world, probably because there are fewer people around. I have found them munching on the grass by the tent on more than one occasion. Isla introduced herself to one. They did not care for her. She was devastated.

Generally though, we give the area of Perthshire 2 paws up (get it)!
